Your daily prompts for December 2025: Festive feel-good

There’s no denying that Christmas spirit is in the air for the month of December — so let’s embrace it!

This month our journaling is all about getting the feel-good feelings flowing by exploring festive traditions, end of year gratitude and all-round seasonal joy.

Happy Christmas!! Here’s to a great year of joyful journaling.

A few things to remember:

  • Some of the prompts are lighthearted and playful, and others encourage you to take a bit of a deeper dive — but it’s entirely up to you how long you’d like to spend on each. They’re designed for you to be able to take as much or as little time as you like.

  • Likewise, it’s completely up to you whether you’d like to complete the journals prompt everyday or just pick and choose the ones that speak to you the most. Do what feels good to do. If daily journaling feels unrealistic or pressured, then please don’t feel that you have to. Even journaling a couple of times a week can bring amazing benefits to your wellbeing and mindset!

  • Most of the prompts here are designed for you to explore with writing, unless otherwise stated. But please feel free to adapt them if you’d rather draw or collage or use any other creative techniques!

  • Tip — each time you want to get to these prompts you can log in to the Members area and head to this page (I’d recommended bookmarking it for quick access) or if you’d like to be able to access them offline, you could copy & paste all the prompts and save them in your notes app on your phone, or print them out on a piece of paper at the start of the month. Your choice, of course!

Lastly, I’m here to support you so please just send me an email on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk if you have any questions at any point.

Happy journaling,

Hannah x

The prompts

1. How do you want this Christmas to feel? Bearing this in mind, set an intention for the weeks leading up to it.

2. Make a bucket list of experiences you’d like to have this December (festive or otherwise!).

3. Draw a snowglobe with a place that you love inside.

4. Imagine you could ask a fairy at the top of the Christmas tree for one piece of advice that you need to hear today. Free-write what she’d say to you.

5. Write down something about Christmas you don’t enjoy – then try and reframe the thought into something that feels more joyful. For example ‘I don’t like all the commercialism’ could become ‘Special gifts can be handmade or second-hand’.

6. What are your favourite Christmas traditions?

7. Write a poem about Christmas lights.

8. List 5 ways that you could spread a little Christmas spirit this week.

9. Find a recipe for a festive drink you like the sound of. Perhaps it’s a flavoured hot chocolate, perhaps a Christmassy cocktail. Write down the ingredients and treat yourself to this drink some this week. You could make a little sketch of the drink too, if you like!

10. Draw something inspired by your favourite Christmas song!

11. Write a letter to Father Christmas listing all the things you’d love to receive in 2026 (material things, emotions, experiences… include as much as you like!).

12. Write a 12 days of joy list, with one thing for every day that’s left in the lead up to Christmas Day.

13. Can you create a new Christmas tradition? Something you might want to come back to year after year?

14. Draw a Christmas tree with baubles hanging on it. In each bauble, write the name of someone you love.

15. Free-write to explore how you this festive season has been for you so far. How do you feel? What do you need?

16. How joyful (or merry!) are you feeling today, on a scale of 1-10? How can you increase that number by one point? Unless it’s 10/10 of course, in which case, go bask in that!

17. Sit beside your Christmas tree (or a Christmas tree) and draw your favourite decoration.

18. 7 days to go… are there any moments of joy you’d like to experience this week, before Christmas arrives? List them and see if you can plan them into your schedule.

19. If you could be any character in a Christmas movie, who would you like to be and why?

20. If you could do absolutely anything this Christmas Day, what would you do?

21. List 5 ways you can rest and relax in the next few days.

22. What’s the most special Christmas gift you can ever remember receiving?

23. Imagine it’s Christmas Eve in the year 2035, ten years from now. What would you like to be doing? Where would you like to be? Who would you like to be with? Allow yourself to dream.

24. What’s the best thing about Christmas Eve?

25. Happy Christmas ❤️ Make a Christmas wish.

26. List your favourite moments from yesterday, however the day looked for you.

27. What do you enjoy the most about this post-Christmas, pre-NYE time of year?

28. Make a list of things that make you feel cosy and comforted on a cold winter’s night.

29. What joyful moments have you experienced this December? Make a brainstorm or a doodle page with as many as you can recall.

30. Draw a gift box with a big ribbon on the top. Inside, write down something you’d like to gift yourself for 2026.

31. Happy new year!! What will you be doing at midnight tonight? Whether you’re out partying or will be at home tucked up in bed, write down what you hope NYE looks like for you this year.
