journal for joy workshops

For individuals, workplaces, organisations and events.

In our busy digital worlds it’s so important to take time to slow down, reconnect with yourself and your surroundings and find joy in the simple things. My creative journaling workshops help you to do just that.

During these uplifting workshops I’ll create space for you (or your team) to practice creative journaling and embrace mindfulness, connection to nature, mini adventures and gratitude — my tried and tested feelgood mix!

Whether we’re indoors in a cosy retreat or yoga studio, online on Teams or Zoom, or outdoors on the wild Cornish coast path, I hope you’ll enjoy every moment and discover a new-found love for joyful journaling.

Below you can find out more about the types of workshop that I typically offer — plus a bespoke option if you’re after something different:

  • “A perfect addition to our wellness event”

"All of the attendees found Hannah’s workshop relaxing and inventive and it helped them connect with themselves on a deeper level. She made a safe space for the attendees to be able to delve into their thoughts and emotions, as well as not to feel judged by what they had written or pressured to share. The workshop was a perfect addition to our wellness event, Connect Cornwall, and Hannah was a joy to work with.”

 WORKSHOP FAQs

  • The optimum amount of people is between 8 and 16 to allow time for sharing and discussion between journaling - but if you have more or less people, that’s ok! Contact me on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk to discuss your estimated group size and I’ll let you know how it would work.

  • My prices vary depending on several factors: the nature of the event, the location, the size of the group, whether a bespoke workshop is required and so on. I’ll provide you with a custom quote but to give you an idea, for a workshop of 8 to 16 people my prices typically range from £250 to £350 for online workshops and from £350 to £500 for in-person workshops (plus travel). If you’re a charity organisation or a community group with lower budgets, please still get in touch on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk and we can discuss options.

  • I’d normally start with a short introductory talk about creative journaling and its benefits. Then we’d get into journaling exercises! We’d typically do between 4 and 6 different exercises in a 2 hour session, with a mix of drawing, writing and mindfulness activities. There will be opportunities for participants to share their journal entries in between too, to spread the joy and help build connections in the group (although there’s never any pressure to do this).

  • No. My background is in writing. I am Mental Health First Aid trained but if you’d like me to host a workshop with a group with specific mental health challenges or needs, a member of your team or a caregiver will need to be present.

  • They’re not currently designed for children – but I have had teens come to my previous workshops (with a parent) and they’ve really enjoyed them! It’s at the parents discretion, of course, but I’d say 14 years old is the youngest suitable age right now. I’d really like to be able to offer Journal For Joy workshops especially for children in the future, so if you’re a teacher or anyone else who would be interested in discussing this, please get in touch with me on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk.

  • This is something that I hear a lot… but the truth is, we’re all creative! Sometimes we don’t feel that way because we don’t make time for it, or we’ve been told that we’re not creative in the past and it’s a belief that’s stuck with us. My workshops are designed so that you can take part and practice playful creativity, even if you have no prior experience of creative writing or drawing. You might even surprise yourself (people often do) 🙂
