Your daily prompts for April 2025: Flow
This month our journaling is focused on finding joy and peace in FLOW. We’ll be exploring ease, surrender, rhythms... journaling that feels like a big deep breath. I hope you enjoy it as much I as enjoyed creating the prompts for you 💙
A few things to remember:
Some of the prompts are lighthearted and playful, and others encourage you to take a bit of a deeper dive — but it’s entirely up to you how long you’d like to spend on each. They’re designed for you to be able to take as much or as little time as you like.
Likewise, it’s completely up to you whether you’d like to complete the journals prompt everyday or just pick and choose the ones that speak to you the most. Do what feels good to do. If daily journaling feels unrealistic or pressured, then please don’t feel that you have to. Even journaling a couple of times a week can bring amazing benefits to your wellbeing and mindset!
Most of the prompts here are designed for you to explore with writing, unless otherwise stated. But please feel free to adapt them if you’d rather draw or collage or use any other creative techniques!
Tip — each time you want to get to these prompts you can log in to the Members area and head to this page (I’d recommended bookmarking it for quick access) or if you’d like to be able to access them offline, you could copy & paste all the prompts and save them in your notes app on your phone, or print them out on a piece of paper at the start of the month. Your choice, of course!
Lastly, I’m here to support you so please just send me an email on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk if you have any questions at any point.
Happy journaling,
Hannah x
The prompts
1. Brainstorm ideas for how you could invite more ease and calm into your week this week.
2. If your life were a body of water, what would it be right now? A calm and winding river? A wild and stormy sea? Describe it.
3. ‘What will be will be’. Think about a situation you might like to apply this thinking to today and write it down.
4. Go outside and notice something that moves with the wind – birds, the trees, cherry blossom or the grass, perhaps. Create something in your journal inspired by what you saw.
5. Recall a time when you felt totally relaxed. What were you doing? Write about or draw the moment.
6. What does your ideal slow Sunday morning look like? Describe it in detail.
7. What’s something you can do this week that requires minimal effort for maximum peace? Brainstorm some ideas and then plan at least one into your diary.
8. Is there anything that you are holding on to (or giving focus to) right now that’s out of your control? How can you let it go?
9. Paint or colour your page with different shades of blue.
10. What’s something you find easy to do? Why?
11. Tune into the rhythm of your breath. Sit somewhere quiet and take 8 very slow very deep breaths, noticing the air moving in and out of your body. Write about how you felt before and after this exercise.
12. Choose a simple task (like washing dishes or making breakfast) and do it slowly and mindfully. Describe how it felt.
13. Write down something you can see, something you can hear and something you can smell in this present moment.
14. Is there anything that you could release today to make way for more joy?
15. When were you last in a flow state? i.e. being totally absorbed in an activity and losing track of time.
16. Is there a time of day, or a time of the week, where you naturally feel more uplifted or energised? Why do you think that is?
17. Set a timer for 1 minute and draw something on your page without taking your pen or pencil off the paper. See what happens when you allow your drawing to flow without any restraint!
18. Take a slow, easeful walk in nature. Mindfully slow your pace and soak up your surroundings, gently letting go of any intrusive/busy thoughts that arise. Write about how it felt to move this way.
19. What do you feel grateful for about your body, right now, without any need to change anything?
20. Draw an Easter basket full of eggs. In each egg, write down words that you associate with calmness.
21. Describe a moment when joy flowed to you effortlessly. What were you doing? Who were you with? Where were you? Include as many details as you can remember.
22. Write a description of, or a short story about, how a feather moves on the breeze.
23. When I release the need to control ______________.
24. What’s a scent that makes you feel calm?
25. Set a timer for 5 minutes and let your pen flow, writing about whatever comes to mind with stopping, editing or thinking too much about what you want to write. See what emerges.
26. What habits or hobbies bring you a sense of ease or flow?
27. Draw or paint a wave. In the wave, write down something in your life right now that you’d like to try and go with the flow for (or a situation where you just need to ‘ride the wave’).
28. I welcome ease into my life by ________________ today.
29. Write a poem inspired by how it feels (or how it would feel) to let go and let things flow naturally.
30. Looking back at April, list some moments that felt calm, easeful or natural to you. Tap into gratitude as you write.
