Your daily prompts for June 2025: Light
Ah, June. Summer’s in the air, the solstice arrives and the daylight hours are the longest they are all year. These are the days that we longed for in the winter months, right? 🌞 With this in mind, this month I’ve chosen a theme for us to lean into the LIGHT. To make the most of the sunshine, to focus on abundance and joy, and to feel the positive energy that this time of year can bring.
I hope this theme feels uplifting and inspiring to you! I’d love to hear how you get on 🙂
A few things to remember:
Some of the prompts are lighthearted and playful, and others encourage you to take a bit of a deeper dive — but it’s entirely up to you how long you’d like to spend on each. They’re designed for you to be able to take as much or as little time as you like.
Likewise, it’s completely up to you whether you’d like to complete the journals prompt everyday or just pick and choose the ones that speak to you the most. Do what feels good to do. If daily journaling feels unrealistic or pressured, then please don’t feel that you have to. Even journaling a couple of times a week can bring amazing benefits to your wellbeing and mindset!
Most of the prompts here are designed for you to explore with writing, unless otherwise stated. But please feel free to adapt them if you’d rather draw or collage or use any other creative techniques!
Tip — each time you want to get to these prompts you can log in to the Members area and head to this page (I’d recommended bookmarking it for quick access) or if you’d like to be able to access them offline, you could copy & paste all the prompts and save them in your notes app on your phone, or print them out on a piece of paper at the start of the month. Your choice, of course!
Lastly, I’m here to support you so please just send me an email on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk if you have any questions at any point.
Happy journaling,
Hannah x
The prompts
1. List 10 ways you can make the most of the long daylight hours this month.
2. ‘Let the light in’. What does this mean to you right now? Are there any particular thoughts or feelings coming up that you need to hear? Explore this by free-writing in your journal.
3. Draw a series of doodles to represent all of the things that light you up!
4. What do you have more than enough of in your life right now? What feels abundant?
5. Create something in your journal inspired by a golden sunset. A poem, a drawing, a painting or a collage, perhaps.
6. If your life was a weather forecast, what would the chance of sunshine be today? Draw a weather symbol to represent your personal forecast.
7. How can you spread a little light and positivity today? Write down your ideas.
8. Write a poem inspired by early morning light.
9. Draw a lightning strike. Underneath it, right down something you’d like to let go of for good this summer.
10. What was your favourite ever sunny holiday? What memories can you recall from that holiday?
11. Shut your eyes and imagine your body is surrounded by a coloured light. What colour was the light that you visualised?
12. Go for a walk in a beautiful natural environment early in the morning. Write about what you noticed.
13. Make a sunshine-inspired playlist. Here are two of my favourite sunshine songs to get you inspired! https://open.spotify.com/track/4ch0ejqrSwJrotLroa9mXn?si=42ffc39b2dda4e4b https://open.spotify.com/track/6dGnYIeXmHdcikdzNNDMm2?si=11f867c32aef4f46
14. Design your perfect summer’s day! Where would you go? What would you do? What would you eat? Who would you be with, if anyone?
15. Draw a big sunshine shape to fill your page. Along the rays, list reasons to be grateful right now.
16. Plan a mini ritual to celebrate the summer solstice later this week. It would be as small as writing a gratitude list, or watching the sunset. Or it could be something bigger like a dinner party with friends or making a summer solstice altar with flowers and candles.
17. Write a journal entry from the point of view of a daisy, from sun up to sun down.
18. What energy do you want to embody this summer? Choose a word that represents this energy and write it in large letters on your page. You could illustrate your letters too, if you like.
19. Do you prefer watching the sunrise or the sunset? Why?
20. What has changed in your life for the better since the winter solstice?
21. To welcome the summer solstice:
- Write three intentions for this summer season
- Write three things you’re grateful to have in your life today
- Write three affirmations to help you appreciate this time
22. On a scale of 1-10, how positive is your mindset today? 1 being not positive at all, 10 being super positive. If it’s less than 7, is there anything you can do to make the number a little higher?
23. Draw a cup shape. Inside, write down all the things that would fill (or even overflow!) your cup right now.
24. Is there anything that feels negative or heavy that’s on your mind today? Can you think of ways to reframe this thought to bring a little lightness to it?
25. In what ways are you similar to a plant or flower?
26. Is there anyone in your life you feel has a sunny disposition? What is it about them that feels like sunshine? List their qualities.
27. Describe the feeling of the sun on your face. You could write a poem, if you like.
28. What does ‘positive energy’ mean to you?
29. Draw a sunflower with a happy face!
30. In what areas of your life are you shining brightly, right now? And in what areas do you feel things are duller than you’d like them to be? Why?
